If you like a low maintenance canoe then replacing your existing seats with a blow-molded polyethylene seat is the way to go. The seat requires no maintenance and will serve you comfortably for many, many years. Bolt-On Cane Backrest for Canoe Seat
This sturdy backrest attaches to most wood and cane canoe seats, and stores under the seat when not in use. Great for long cruises and leisure paddling. Includes two brackets which are installed underneath your existing seat. The brackets allow the backrest to stow underneath when not in use OR in the upright position for great support. This is our favorite backrest for cane seats.
The backrest consists of two side support brackets, caned seat back, instructions and stainless steel hardware.

Web Canoe Seat - 34 inch
34" x 10" overall. Can easily be cut to fit your canoe. Select Ash stock is 1.5" by 13/16" Made in USA. This seat can accommodate seat bolt spacing of about 8 to 9 inches (measured front to rear, center to center). -Lowering the seat with a longer bolt and spacer gives you a bit more wiggle room on lining that up.
Made of solid Ash with a clear UV-resistant varnish finish. Assembled with mortise and tenon joinery and West Systems epoxy.
In terms of trimming the overall width; this seat can be cut down to just a bit over 13".
Seating area refers to the center portion of the seat frame.
